New York State of Mind
Fermata Town just returned from an epic weekend in New York for one of our annual summer retreat weekends. The tradition started a few years back when we first went to Providence, RI for a weekend to perform at the Indie Arts Festival and then last summer went on a Cape Cod Tour. We decided to up our game even more in 2012 and take our talents to New York City (unlike LeBron James who opted for South Beach). We spent the entire day on Saturday in the city and had such a great time! Around 1:30PM, we set up shop in Washington Square Park and performed our set for tourists enjoying the beautiful weather. It was a great warm up for our show later that evening and we had a ton of fun.
Thanks to the wonderful Andy Bisdale, we were able to also get some amazing pictures from the session that will most likely make their way onto our website.
After grabbing lunch in the neighborhood, we headed over to The Bitter End for what would prove to be one of the most exciting performances in the history of Fermata Town. The Bitter End is somewhat of a historic landmark in the NYC music scene as the likes of Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Etta James, Randy Newman, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Gavin Degraw, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga have all performed on the same stage that we rocked out on!
The overall quality of the lineup was amazing as we were lucky enough to have three local groups join us. A big THANK YOU to The Red States, The Lost Keys and The Current for joining us and performing! We had such a great time and would love to perform with you again when we’re back!
We wrapped up the weekend with a Sunday afternoon Pitching Party in which members from the group pitch the next set of songs to be incorporated into our repertoire… so be on the lookout for a few new song selections coming your way!
Our next show will be sometime in late July in Boston so stay tuned for more updates as we learn more about the performance. In the meantime, we’re going to relax and enjoy the summer heat and think that you should too… after you donate to our Kickstarter page to help us buy our own PA system.
